."Hello Rich , my name is Don  and I worked at the Red Barns in Louisville KY . I started as an assistant manager for the franchisee Fred M.  His brother MADY M.  was also a franchisee up north .  My brother Robert  was the area Supervisor and ran the day to day operation for Fred.  Fred lost his franchise to Servomation in 1974 and my brother was sent back to run the store on Bardstown Rd . The new supervisor was a man named Spencer P. who stayed in this his home town until 1978, he then moved to Mc Lean VA , the home of RED BARN RESTAURANTS . There he supervised stores till the middle of 1979 when he as well as the rest of us saw the writing on the walls . Red Barn was purchased only to acquire SERVOMATION CORP , Motel 6 Never wanted the Fast Food chain, that was told to me by former home office personnel . When they acquired the company they immediately started parring down McLean VA and began starting Payroll and accounts payable through Motel 6 from Sunnyvale Ca . When we closed the restaurants in 1980 I had been the store manager at 3 of the 5 stores in Louisville . We had locations at Dixie highway , Oak St , Broadway , the roughest store in the city , I was moved there 3 times to correct all the problems Food cost , Payroll , Cash shortages , P& L . Also I was robbed 2 times by residents of the apartment complex that was behind the store . We also had a store at Bardstown Rd , and Brownsboro Rd this was the only store in the city that was making any money .This was the store that I operated till I got a phone call to post an OUT OF BUSINESS sign on  front lobby doors and to take ALL the Monies in the store and deposit them in the bank immediately .  Another manager and I worked 2 more weeks for them moving equipment and all supplies from our stores to Milwaukee Wisc . After which we were paid for our 2 weeks and also 2 weeks severance pay . I also in my tenure was an area supervisor in Milwaukee, Kenosha , and Racine . Boy those were some difficult times . But I really enjoyed the Food and the Company as a whole . There will never be another like the OLD RED BARN !!"
